School Age   YMCA After School J.A.M. Session   Chess

Our Columbus Family YMCA school age programs offer a fun, safe place for children. Children enrolled at our Family YMCA school age programs are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that enhance physical fitness, encourage sportsmanship and promote cooperative learning.

Ride the YMCA bus after school to enjoy a snack, devotions and a variety of activities such as tennis, racquetball, basketball, volleyball, dodgeball and swimming. When the day is finished students can be picked up at their school or at the YMCA. Staff will supervise your child from the time school is let out until you pick them up. Have your kids join us at the YMCA to grow in spirit, mind and body!

The YMCA chess program is designed to give participants the opportunity to learn and master this ancient game. The season’s program is geared to all levels of chess playing knowledge and ability as participants will be encouraged to play chess games with other participants. To help participants grow in their chess-playing expertise, there will be limited game analysis one-site (for those who record their chess games). There also may occasionally be a chess lesson or a chess puzzle geared towards the chess-playing level of participants. This is a similar format from what has been done in this past summer chess sessions. These sessions are designed for both youth and adult. For more information or to volunteer to help with YMCA chess, call Jim or Karen at 563-3820.
