CEO

Corey is the CEO of the Columbus Family YMCA. In this role, Corey leads a team providing the overall management and direction of the YMCA as a community organization. Before rejoining the YMCA in 2008, Corey worked for 7 years with Mission Nebraska leading the I CAN Camp Ministry across the state. This ministry served low-income, disadvantaged children in summer camps and after school settings. Corey started his professional career at the Columbus Family YMCA in 1993 after graduating from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Corey was the Program and Camp Director at our YMCA for seven years. Corey is passionate about impacting the lives of children, youth and families. Working for the YMCA provides Corey with the opportunity to affect the spirit, mind and body of those who come in contact with YMCA programs and services. Corey is a Christ follower who seeks to honor God in all he does. Working for the YMCA is the perfect opportunity to do that every day.

Director of Operations

Ryan is our Director of Operations and is in charge of Human Resources.  Ryan began at the YMCA in Sept 2017 and has over 5 years of Human Resource experience.  Ryan graduated from David City Aquinas high school in 1997, and then went to Central Community College in Columbus and received a Business/ Marketing Diploma.  Ryan is very passionate about the growth of the YMCA and the great future that the Y has.  Ryan is married to Heather and they have three children, Andon, Makara, and Brinley.

Membership/Administrative Director

Betsy is our Membership Director. She has been with the Columbus Family YMCA since 2012. Betsy is a believer in the core values of the Y. She supports the Y because it is a very family friendly place with several activities for both parents and kids. She is passionate about the growth of the Y. She hopes to provide services that will help grow Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.

Jen Brownlow

Wellness Director

Jen Brownlow is our Wellness Director. She started as a full-time employee at the YMCA in October 2000. Her Fitness career did start at the YMCA in 1995 as a Step Instructor. She obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Jen is a ACE certified Personal Trainer and she is currently certified as a Les Mills BodyPump and BodyCombat instructor. Jen has taught dance aerobics, group cycling and silversneakers classes. She loves to motivate participants and help them find the type of exercise that fits into their lives. Outside of the YMCA, Jen enjoys sports, gardening, scrapbooking, volunteering at church, and attending her kids’ activities.

Aquatics Director

Krista is the Aquatic Director. Moon joined the Columbus Family YMCA in 2015, but has worked in the aquatic environment since 2008. After graduating from Scotus Central Catholic, Krista moved to Central Community College where she graduated with honors earning her Associate of Art Degree with an active membership in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and serving on the Judicial Board as Bailiff. Krista then transferred to Midland University where she received both of her Bachelor Degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. While attending Midland University, Moon co-founded Alpha-Phi Sigma  – Chapter Mu Omega (Criminal Justice Honor Society) and resided as Sargent-at-Arms. Krista was also an active member of Psi Chi (Psychology Honor Society) and graduated with Cum Laude honors. Krista is married to Justin and together they have two children. Being able to join a non-profit organization with strong core values and beliefs has been a true blessing to Krista.

Program and Camp Director

Austin joined the YMCA staff as the Youth Program and Camp Director in 2016.  Before joining the Columbus YMCA he worked with the Lincoln YMCA for 8 years in various positions ranging from Front Desk Customer Service to Before and After School Program Site Director.  Every summer for the last 6 years Austin was a Camp Counselor out at YMCA Camp Kitaki.  Austin obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Water Sciences from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.  Here at the YMCA Austin runs our afterschool NRG program, Home School PE, our Day Camps and many other Youth programs.  Outside of the YMCA, Austin loves playing the drums and guitar, reading, cooking, hiking and camping.  Austin is passionate about developing youth through educational programming and play.

Daniel Acosta

Sports Director

The Columbus Family YMCA is exited to name Daniel Acosta as our new Sports Director. Daniel was born and raised in Schuyler. As part of a close knit family, his cousins introduced him to many sports. When he wasn’t playing high school football or soccer, he was playing pick up games with friends and family or doing some sort of physical training. Once Daniel graduated high school in 2011, he attended UNK where he received my Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and a minor in Social Work in December of 2015. While at UNK, Daniel worked at the Campus Recreation Wellness Center for three years where he worked as a front desk attendant and was later promoted to a facility attendant, as well as enjoyed participating in intramural sports. After graduation, Daniel moved back home and worked for the Schuyler Post Office. After starting as a day shift supervisor in April, Daniel was quickly promoted to the position of Sports Director. He is excited to develop and facilitate sports programs for the Y, as well as meet people from the Columbus.
